Project Description: The East Park Canoe House is an historical property located just north of Boathouse Row along the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, PA. The location is the new home of Temple University’s Women’s and Men’s Rowing Teams.
BoardSafe Docks provided the design, engineering (structural and foundation), manufacturing, and installation. The city of Philadelphia mandated that the entire dock system could not be attached to the historic stonewall located along the banks of the Schuylkill River. To provide the necessary structure for the system, BoardSafe Docks designed two large foundations independent from the wall. Cantilevered decks were attached to the foundations, and oversized gangways then acted as the structural component between the decks and floating docks.
• main dock: 10 feet by 280 feet
• two foundation systems
• two cantilevered decks (structural supports for floating dock system)
• two 24-foot-by-40-foot gangways
