Gangways provide safe access to a floating dock or fishing pier

Our commercial aluminum gangways are engineered and built to provide solutions for any marine application.

When your project requires stuctural integrity, non-polluting materials, corrosion resistance, strength, and safety, our catalog of products will exceed your standards.

Aluminum commercial gangways can be manufactured in any length to meet any need. Each order receives a design analysis based on the use and environment of the installation for custom design considerations, such as the bulkhead and roller hinges.

Designing your commercial gangway

- ADA-Compliant Gangway - Commercial Aluminum Gangway - Rowing Center Gangway- Kayak Launch Gangway with Chute - Long-Span Ferry Gangway - Pivoting / Rail-Mounted Gangway - Cantilevered Deck Gangway - Parallel Bank Gangway - Elevated Pedestrian Walkway / Boardwalk - Supplemental Flotation Gangway

Every BoardSafe dock is built on the same modular aluminum extrusion system that runs across our entire product line. That means gangways, finger docks, and accessories all share the same frame geometry, connection hardware, and decking system — so components integrate cleanly, layouts can be reconfigured as a program grows, and replacements are straightforward without retooling the whole system.

All of our waterfront projects can be configured with adaptive buildouts, products and accessories providing ADA accessibility for all bodies and abilities.

STANDARD HARDWARE- Toe kick plates (both sides)- Transition plate at gangway-to-dock connection- Roller hinge assembly at shore-side connection- Pivot and swivel hardware for tidal or rail-mounted applications- Bulkhead mounting kit for attachment to existing seawall or structure- Foundation connection bracket for concrete bulkhead attachment- Support arm system for steep or flood-prone banks- Supplemental flotation at lower end for low-slope applications- Piano hinge connection at dock end

HANDRAIL OPTIONS- Standard 42" aluminum mesh panel handrail- Dual ADA-compliant continuous handrail- Intermediate wheelchair height handrail- Open aluminum picket infill- Custom powder coat finish

ACCESS CONTROL- Lockable gate with ADA-compliant hardware

STRUCTURAL UPGRADES- Mid-span landing for long-span gangways- Steps with handrail at mid-span landing- Custom width for wheelchair passing clearance or crew portage- Extended length for extreme tidal fluctuation or steep bank conditions

245-foot tall ship, Caledonia has been repurposed as a floating restaurant on Boston Harbor. We have engineered and installed a gangway to provide access for this unique water-access dining experience. Boston Tall Ship Gangway Tidal ebbs and flows from 9-12' had to be taken into consideration during the design process Project-guided engineering by our team allows the gangway to travel and pivot safely, facilitating stable access to this one-of-a-kind restaurant. Learn more Scope: Custom pivoting aluminum gangway on railroad track, commercial foot traffic load capacity Lovejoy Wharf Ferry We manufactured and installed a 100-foot aluminum gangway to connect Lovejoy Wharf in Boston's North End to a ferry barge, delivered in two truckloads from our Topton, PA, facility. At 100 feet long and 5 feet wide, with a landing and steps, this is one of the largest gangway installations we've built. It serves high daily pedestrian volumes in one of Boston's most active urban waterfronts and has become a fixture of the neighborhood's renaissance. Learn more Scope: 100' x 5' aluminum gangway with mid-span landing and steps, dual handrails, composite decking We engineered a long-span gangway to bridge the elevation change from the pier to water level, then integrated the kayak launch directly into the existing dock system. The result gives paddlers of all abilities a complete, code-compliant path from the pier to the water. Discovery Pier Gangway & Kayak Launch Discovery Pier in Traverse City, Michigan needed a standalone ADA-compliant gangway and an adaptive kayak launch that could integrate with their existing dock without requiring a full dock replacement. How we make it adaptive

Adaptive add-ons for every site parameter and project

MEETING ADA STANDARDS WITH KEY ADAPTIVE FEATURES

The key distinction: A standard commercial gangway meets load and safety requirements but is not necessarily ADA compliant. An ADA gangway requires a slope calculation to be done correctly based on the site's tidal fluctuation or water level change — which is why gangway length is one of the most commonly misengineered elements on accessible waterfront projects.

ADAPTIVE ADD-ONS

- Intermediate wheelchair-height handrail

- Extended gangway length to achieve ADA and IBC code compliant slope on steep banks

- Supplemental flotation at lower end to maintain ADA slope at all water levels

- Wider gangway configuration for wheelchair passing clearance

- Accessibility grab bars at gangway entry and exit points

- ADA-compliant gate hardware

- Tactile warning strips at gangway entry and exit

- Paved accessible pathway connection from parking to gangway entry
