BoardSafe Builds Waterfront Infrastructure for Bassmaster Classic
BoardSafeDocks designed and manufactured the waterfront infrastructure being used for this weekend's Bass Pro Shop Bassmaster Classic. The prestigious tournament offers free family events, thrilling competition, live weigh-ins, and an exciting expo, promising to make the "Super Bowl of Bass Fishing" a memorable event for all participants and attendees.
It’s always rewarding to see our docks put to work at events that bring thousands of anglers and fans to the water. Big thanks to the teams at Visit Knoxville and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (tn.gov/twra) for collaborating with us and getting everything ready for the tournament.

BoardSafe Expands Equitable Access to Fabulous Fox! Water Trail
At BoardSafe, we are honored to play a key role in expanding equitable access along the newly designated Fabulous Fox! National Water Trail. The trail is a 158-mile paddling route that winds through the scenic towns and landscapes of southeast Wisconsin into northeast Illinois. As the National Park Service works with communities along the trail, we are proud to have designed, engineered, and manufactured five fully accessible floating dock systems, all equipped with our industry-leading BoardSafe Adaptive Kayak Launch.
In partnership with Kane County and the Fabulous Fox! Water Trail team, our adaptive kayak launches are now present at Carpentersville (Riverfront Park), East Dundee (Bartels Park), South Elgin (SEBA Park), Batavia, and Montgomery (Montgomery Park). Every launch is built with universal design at its core, ensuring safe, stable, and independent access for all paddlers. The universal access launch system is designed to include paddlers of all abilities, including individuals with limited mobility, balance challenges, or paralysis from the waist down. Offering wheelchair access from land, our boarding bench allows paddlers to transfer from their wheelchair down to their kayak, using an overhead grab bar, hand straps, and rails to pull their kayak into the water. Each feature allows paddlers to enter and exit their kayak with confidence, stability, and dignity.
These accessible systems support the Water Trail’s mission to welcome everyone to the Fabulous Fox! River and explore forest corridors, historic river towns, and vibrant community waterfronts with restaurants, cultural attractions, and public amenities.
Site preparation for the five locations began in August 2025, with Hey and Associates, Inc., providing engineering for the larger Fabulous Fox! Water Trail Infrastructure Project. While the docks were removed for winter protection, they will return each spring and be ready for paddlers of every age, experience level, and ability to enjoy.
BoardSafe is proud to help communities realize their vision of inclusive outdoor recreation. On the Fabulous Fox! National Water Trail accessibility is not an add-on; it’s a promise the National Park Service wants to offer to its visitors. We’re honored that our adaptive kayak launches are opening the FabFox! River to more people than ever before.
Carpentersville's Riverfront Park @ 1430 Riverside Park, Carpentersville, offers direct access to scenic stretches of the Fox River and plenty of nearby green space to enjoy before or after your paddle.
Bartels Park, 1330 Bartels Park, in East Dundee, is a welcoming riverside park that’s perfect for families and paddlers looking for calm waters and convenient access right in East Dundee.
SEBA Park, at 1130 SEBA Park, South Elgin, is a community favorite. SEBA Park now offers an easy entry point for kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards, with beautiful river views.
Montgomery Park, at 845 Montgomery, connects paddlers to both upstream and downstream adventures while enjoying a vibrant park setting.
Clark Island Recreation Area, at 1000 Clark Island, Batavia, offers a paddle surrounded by history and natural beauty. Clark Island is a hub for recreation, offering trails, picnicking, and now, direct river access for all.

Welcome Addition Expands Access at Fall Creek Falls State Park TN
Autumn is one of the most beautiful times to explore Tennessee State Parks. Cooler temperatures, vibrant fall colors, and calm waters make it an ideal season for kayaking and connecting with nature.
As part of the Access 2030 Initiative, Tennessee State Parks continues to lead the nation in accessibility. The statewide plan aims to make every park the most inclusive and barrier-free in the country by 2030, enhancing physical access for visitors with disabilities while also addressing sensory and learning needs.
A New Way To Experience Fall Creek Falls
Known for its 256-foot waterfall, the tallest of its kind east of the Mississippi River, Fall Creek Falls State Park is a favorite destination for outdoor enthusiasts who love hiking, camping, fishing, paddleboarding, canoeing, and kayaking.
Now, paddlers have two new ways to access the water, thanks to the recent installation of two BoardSafe Adaptive Kayak Launches at the park. These innovative launches make it easier, safer, and more inclusive for everyone to enjoy Fall Creek Falls Lake. The launches are designed to provide universal access for seasoned kayakers and first-time paddlers using the adaptive features.
One launch is located near the main boat ramp and dock, while the second launch is installed near the dam. Both offer a convenient access point for exploring the lake.

About the Project
The boat ramp launch features an 8’ x 16’ floating dock, a 16’ kayak launch and chute, an adaptive boarding kit, a bulkhead mounting angle, and a 6’ x 8’ dock extension with a gangway system that connects to the existing dock.
The second system, located closer to the dam, includes a longer gangway and chute for easier transfer and water access from the land.

New BoardSafe Adaptive Kayak Launch at Hellenberg Park, Monroe MI
The City of Monroe is proud to announce the opening of a BoardSafe Adaptive Kayak Launch at Hellenberg Park, giving paddlers of all ages and abilities a safer, easier way to access the River Raisin.
Located at 1313 E. Front Street, Hellenberg Park is already a favorite destination for boating, fishing, and outdoor play. In addition to the new accessible launch, the park features a large parking area for small watercraft, a basketball court, green space for volleyball and other land sports, and plentiful fishing opportunities from the shore and on the water.
City crews completed the installation of the new launch and the foundation connecting the launch to the land. The accessible launch was designed with adaptive features to make kayaking accessible for everyone, from first-time paddlers to those with mobility challenges. The system provides a stable, supportive kayak cradle that allows users to enter and exit their kayaks with confidence.
Key features of the launch at Hellenberg Park include:
- 36-foot aluminum gangway/chute with safety toe kick.
- 8' x 16' floating dock with composite decking.
- Clip-A-Launch 16S system with adaptive bench, pullout seat, and overhead grab bar with hand straps.

The City of Monroe, founded in 1785, has always been a community shaped by its waterways. Once a natural crossroads for the Potawatomi Tribe, French missionaries, fur traders, and early settlers, the city continues to welcome visitors with its rich history and natural beauty. Just a short distance from the River Raisin National Battlefield Park, Hellenberg Park’s new adaptive launch adds another way to connect with the river and the community’s outdoor heritage.
With the new addition of a BoardSafe Accessible Kayak Launch, Monroe reaffirms its commitment to accessibility, recreation, and preserving the River Raisin as a place for all to enjoy.
City crew members were able to install the required foundation and install the launch that offers paddlers and kayak fishermen access to the River Raisin. The launch with adaptive features offers paddlers of all abilities a new perspective on the water.

Tennessee’s Access 2030 Initiative
Access 2030 is a statewide initiative aimed at making Tennessee State Parks the most accessible in the country by the year 2030. The program focuses on removing barriers and providing inclusive outdoor experiences for every visitor.
Park improvements under this initiative include:
- wheelchair-accessible parking, trails, and overlooks.
- all-terrain wheelchairs at 22 state parks (including 11 in Middle Tennessee).

BoardSafe Adaptive Kayak Launch Enhances Paddling at Erie Canal Bicentennial

On Saturday, June 14th, 2025, paddlers from across Central New York gathered to celebrate a once-in-a-generation milestone, the 200th anniversary of the historic Erie Canal. The annual Boat, Float ’n’ Folk Festival in Chittenango, NY (just east of Syracuse), offered the perfect setting for the celebration, combining history, music, community, and the great outdoors. This year’s event had even more to celebrate with the ribbon cutting of a brand-new BoardSafe Adaptive Kayak Launch, now open to paddlers at Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum.
Paddlers of all ages and experience levels took to the calm, flat waters of the Old Erie Canal, starting from various launch points, most notably the BoardSafe Dock installed at Poolsbrook by the Manlius Recreation Department. There were four available paddles that day, all ending at Chittenango for the festivities. The new BoardSafe launch made it easier than ever for participants to safely enter and exit the water, including those with mobility challenges. Its adaptive design features stability, accessibility, and durability that invite everyone, from first-time paddlers to seniors, families with kids, and adaptive paddlers, to confidently experience the water.
As kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards floated peacefully past historic aqueducts, over sunken canal boats, and through wide water sections of the canal, the impact of the new launch was evident. One paddler commented, “This is the easiest and safest launch I’ve ever used. It really sets the tone for a relaxing and enjoyable trip.” Over 200 paddlers joined the float, many taking part in a commemorative drone photo to mark the Erie Canal’s bicentennial in a truly unforgettable way.
BoardSafe’s mission to create inclusive access to waterways aligned beautifully with the spirit of the day, honoring the past while looking forward to a more accessible and adventurous future on the canal. The new launch provides a permanent improvement for the Chittenango community and its many visitors, ensuring the Erie Canal remains a recreational destination for generations to come.
The celebration concluded with the folk festival at Chittenango Landing, complete with live music, food trucks, artisan demonstrations, and a petting zoo. It was a day full of history, laughter, and paddles raised in joy.

BoardSafe Paddle Center—Accessible Kayaking in Downtown Pittsburgh
Whether you’re a first-timer paddler or one who is seasoned, the Venture Outdoors Paddle Center by BoardSafe Docks of Fleetwood, PA, is open and ready for some summer paddling fun. Venture Outdoors' new concession hub is located just outside the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh.

Venture Outdoors Paddle Center offers water access for kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, and other outdoor educational experiences. Renters can reserve sit-in or sit-on-top, single or tandem kayaks, as well as stand-up paddleboards. The launch provides a “smooth like butter” entry into the Allegheny River, stated Andrews, who demonstrated the launch and spoke about the mission and vision for the new facility. The paddle center’s main focus is on having three accessible kayak launches, plus one launch with additional adaptive features specifically to accommodate paddlers in wheelchairs. The fourth launch is equipped with a boarding bench that is equal to the height of a wheelchair, an overhead grab bar, a step-down bench with a pull-out seat, grab straps and pull bars, and a stable cradle that eliminates the fear of tipping when entering and exiting the vessel.
During the interview, Andrews shared that this is only Phase 1 of the project and stated that Phase II will be completed sometime next year, after some additional fundraising.
Those who are willing to support Phase II of their venture are encouraged to donate through their Adopt-A-Kayak Program. The city is supporting great things happening on its rivers with hopes of drawing more visitors to its waterfront. Phase II includes replacing the temporary structures on the dock with an aluminum-welded floating boathouse that will provide better safety to employees and allow them to house the organization's kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.
